How a Little Recipe Keepsake Came to Be

A while back, I came across these little business-card-sized sublimation blanks on Amazon. I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do with them, but I loved the idea of creating something small enough to tuck into a wallet, recipe box, or drawer.

My original thought was to make little motivational and inspirational cards.

So I bought them.

And then…they sat.

For quite a while.

Until one day, while looking through some old recipes, I had a completely different thought:

What if these little cards became recipes?

Tiny collections of recipes meant to be kept, shared, and pulled out when you're planning a little something with the people you love.

And just like that, the idea for BraySam Lane Recipe Keepsakes was born.

Because sometimes the best ideas aren't planned.

They just happen.

A Little Vintage. A Little Worn. A Lot of Heart.

I wanted these recipe cards to feel like something you might discover tucked inside an old family cookbook.

Something that looks like it has been loved.

The designs intentionally have a softly vintage, slightly weathered appearance. A little worn around the edges, as though these recipes have been passed from one kitchen to another over the years.

But there's a modern simplicity to them, too.

Because that's really what BraySam Lane is about.

Simple things. Special moments.

Recipes for Gathering

The idea isn't to create complicated recipes that require a trip to a specialty grocery store or an entire afternoon in the kitchen.

These are recipes chosen with simple gatherings in mind.

A simple meal.

A simple dessert.

A yummy drink.

Something you can put together for a few friends, family around the table, a cozy afternoon, a girls' night, or simply because it's Tuesday and you feel like making something good.

The recipes are meant to work together as little collections — giving you an easy starting point for creating a moment.

The moments where there's good food on the table, something delicious in your glass, everyone is comfortable, and nobody is in a hurry to leave.

And I Don't Quite Know Where This Will Take Us…

I don't know exactly where these little recipe keepsakes will take us.

That's part of the fun.

My plan is to create seasonal collections throughout the year, with several different sets for each season. Each one will have its own personality, recipes and artwork while still feeling unmistakably BraySam Lane.
